Home Office Reveal
The office is done!! And let me tell you, it was a lot bigger of a project then I had expected. But, If I was doing this space, I was going all in. This room is the biggest disaster in the whole house, heck maybe even the biggest disaster on the block ;). Feeling overwhelmed with the mess, I knew it was time, and I ripped off the bandaid. Completely emptying this space, painting, new floors, organizing both closets, a desk built in, and more. Making this office everything I need without leaving my home!
Paint
My office is in the basement, so one of the first things I knew I wanted to do was make this room brighter. And the easiest and cost efficient way to do so was painting! Using my paint sprayer I sprayed two coats of primer. And then two coats of Sherwin Williams Marshmallow (which is my fave white at the moment). It’s a great shade if you want a white that will warm up your space, with purple undertones.
Floors
Now that the paint is done, it was time for floors! I went with Vinyl peel and stick by Dura Decor in Natural Hickory . It’s been just under 6 months since I installed the floors, and I’m still just as happy with them, as I was the day I installed them. From picking the color, to the delivery, Dura Decor, was there to help me every step of the way. And I love when I feel like a company is genuinely excited, and committed to having great customer service. It’s really one of the top things I look at when working with or buying from a company. The install took about a day! it was so easy, and they are holding up great! You can read more about the whole entire process here, as well as how I chose the floors here.
Tool Wall
Once the Paint and the floors were done in the office, it was time to start putting the office back together. The first corner I tackled was the tool wall. Feeling like the wall was going to need a little something to give it a wow factor, I ordered decals.
Decals, were so easy to put up, and only took a few hours, and I think they were a perfect touch. (watch the reel here)
I ordered a kitchen cart, to act as my project spot. I can create, as well as have functional storage. Bonus its on wheels.
Using a piece of pegboard from Home Depot for around twenty dollars. Giving it a little face lift, I painted it green. Adding 1×4 wood boards, around the edges, to give it a framed look.
Ordering hooks off of amazon, I sprayed them all gold with spray paint, to give them a little pizazz… I mean because, who doesn’t love a pretty tool wall!
Desk Built In
Two clearance Ikea bathroom vanities! Turned into this, and this maybe the biggest projects I’ve pulled off without much help from Rob. Totally, patting myself on the back! Assembling the vanities, and then building the book cases. Adding paint to the bookshelves, Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black. Trimmed them out, added shiplap to the side and to the center. And added some thrifted decor. This was about a $600 dollar project when everything was said and done. Find all the details here!
Secret Bookcase
This was the worst, but I’m obsessed! I say this, because, I should have done a little more research. Using two $30 book cases from Ikea. To build a secret bookcase on wheels. This closet, isn’t really a closet. My office is in the basement, and when they built the house, this closet was put in to hide pipes, so its great to have extra storage, it’s also awkward. That’s when the idea struck to turn it into a secret closet. Two cheap bookcases, a couple pieces of closet shelving, and a piece of particle board, and this is the result. Once it was all built, trim, primed, and painted Putty, by fusion mineral paint. Living behind the bookcase is a secret stash of all my favorite vintage clothing finds.
Gallery Wall
Needed to be reminded, that girls rule the world. I created this vintage gallery wall. My final decor touch to this space. Thrifting, and Etsy, is where I found most of these prints. Paired with this diy sherpa chair, and lamp!
Im feeling so much better, and accomplished now that this space is done. A place to work, a she cave! I will make sure to add all the shopping links under shop my home!
