Life’s a Garden… Dig It
Now that spring has sprung, it’s time to start working on our garden. I got this cute little idea when I was gathering ideas for my April Showers Bring May Flowers… blog. I saw something a little similar somewhere on the internet, but I thought I would put a spin on it. My kids really enjoy painting rocks, so I thought we could paint some rocks as garden markers.
I took my 5 year old and my 2 year old Rock hunting earlier this week. To find some nice size rocks for our garden markers
I could not believe how much two individuals could enjoy searching for rocks. I’m telling you for the money we just spent on Disneyworld, I could’ve just drove down the street and let them pick up some rocks for a little bit! I am only kidding I’m sure they would choose Disney over rock picking any day, but we were really excited to find some really good ones for our project!!
We took our precious rocks home and gave them the spa treatment. (Only the finest for our Rocks ;)) A Rock Bath to get all the dirt off of them since they were pretty dirty rocks.
Now that our rocks were clean and dried the real work began, we needed to figure out what we were going to plant in our garden! Since our house was just recently built this will be our first year planting a garden in our new home. Once the kids and I figured out what we were going to plant we busted out the craft paint and got to work.
These two took their jobs very seriously, they had a blast painting different vegetables and fruits, who knows maybe they had so much fun I can actually get them to eat some more vegetables… that’s probably just wishful thinking on my part. So after they were done painting I took a paint marker and did some outlining to make some of them have some shape.
I’m really excited about this little project, I think they turned out super cute, and I can’t wait to use them in our first garden and continue to use them through out the years! Now onto to the next part… planting the garden. <3
