How to Add Ribbon to A Christmas Tree
It’s officially time to decorate for the holiday season! If you follow me on instagram you may have caught my how to, on putting ribbon on a Christmas tree. If not no worries, here is a little step by step tutorial.
In my previous tree decorating years, I’ve shined away from using ribbon. I have tried to use it, and was always disappointed in how it turned out. It always looks so perfect on the internet, and in magazines.I hated spending a fortune on ribbon, and in the end not getting the result I was looking for. When I was at Costco I came across these huge rolls of ribbon for $6.99. With that I made the decision to try it again this year. To top it of this year I took a whole new approach, and threw the garland idea out the window.
Supplies
I did two different trees. One was a 6.5 foot tree in our dining room, and the other 9ft in our front room. I would also like to note that I had already decorated one, and the other was bare. Meaning if you’ve already done your decorating that’s perfectly fine, you can still add ribbon!
Honestly this little project doesn’t need a lot of supplies:
- Scissors
- Floral Wire
- Ribbon
Cut
First step is going to be to cut the ribbon. I cut the ribbon in about 8-12 inch lengths. once you start attaching them to the trees, you can stagger the sizes or move around. Once I cut a bunch of the ribbon, I cut the floral wire in about 4 inch sections. Cutting a bunch at a time, so I wouldn’t have to keep going back to cut each time.
Attach
Using the floral wire I attached the ribbon closer to the back/middle of the branch. The placement will probably depend on how the branch lays as well as the ribbon length. To attach the ribbon I just twisted it like a twist tie a few times. After I placed a ribbon on a tree I would just move down and around to stagger the ribbon. Then when I placed my group of ribbon on I would just step back and just look at where I felt there needed one.
This year was a great success with my ribbon!! And I couldn’t be happier with the end results. I still have a little sprucing up to do, and I’m undecided on tree toppers. But I’m chalking this one up as a win!
