Thanksgiving Tablescape DIY

Holy Cow! Can you believe that Thanksgiving is only two weeks away! Time sure does fly when you’re having fun, well if fun is what we call it these days! The second Halloween was over I wanted to decorate for Christmas. But I had to pump the brakes because, poor Thanksgiving gets no love! Plus I am loving my Thanksgiving tablescape this year.

This is actually the first year I have a furnished dining room, so I’m super pumped about having Thanksgiving dinner in it. This was also the first tablescape that I actually put together, so for a first try I’m digging it! One thing I did was this super easy diy I had to share. I thought it put the finishing touch to my table.

The Table Settings

I have always been a big fan of plaid and the buffalo check print. When I saw these chargers at Hobby Lobby I knew they had to be mine. The dinner plates and the salad plates are both from the Hearth and Hand line at Target. I love them and the quality is great, plus black and grey are great neutral colors and I feel like once you add a brighter color it really makes everything pop.  The napkins are from my home away from home, home goods. My appetizer plates and little ceramic pumpkins are both from the target dollar spot. Honestly the first place I go to look when I’m starting to decorate is the Target dollar spot. It’s amazing!

The Centerpiece

Ninety-nine percent of my centerpiece is from Hobby Lobby. I’ve always loved dough bowl, but never knew where I would put one in my house. And they can be pretty expensive, so when I found this one at Hobby Lobby I knew I had to have it! Most of the pumpkins and the eucalyptus is from Hobby Lobby too. Exception is for the white one in the middle, that one is from Michaels. I wasn’t sure what colors I wanted to go to for fall and thanksgiving, but I knew I wanted it to look very natural. I’m also a dark person, I love dark colors, and I love to decorate with dark colors. for that I threw in the black iron candlesticks, with grey candles to tie it all back into the room, and the table settings.

Indian corn DIY

Now for the super easy diy portion to my Thanksgiving tablescape. These little Indian corns are from hobby lobby for 40% off making them just over two dollars and some change for a pack of three. Then I picked up a bottle of gold spray paint. Taking them out of the package, and then unwrapping the corn husks from the sides of the corn. Once that was done I simply spray painted gold and let dry. Not only do I think these just make my tablescape pop, they’re amazing to use in wreaths, or as a vase filler, seriously so many options. If you run out to Hobby Lobby and they don’t have them any longer no worries. Stop at the local pumpkin patch/farm or I even saw these at target and grab the real thing.

Thanksgiving tablescape in the books! Now bring on the Turkey and stuffing!

  1. Okay I LOVE that idea of spraying the Indiana corn with metallic paint! I’m all done decorating for Thanksgiving this year, but I’m totally doing that next year! Great idea!

  2. So pretty! I wish I could make up a Thanksgiving table as pretty and tied together as this. I tend to wait until the last minute, then shove all the books, cds, cameras and odds and ends from the table to have room to put down plates. Sigh. Next year, next year I’ll plan ahead.

  3. I actually understand that Thanksgiving can be forgotten in between Halloween and Christmas. I love the idea of Thanksgiving (I’m not celebrating because I’m not American), it’s just so short in between the holidays and I need time to settle before I’m back at it. ANYHOW – your tablescape is fantastic! I particularly like your diy project, so so cute!
