Holiday Craft Night 2018

The holiday season wouldn’t be complete if it wasn’t for some holiday crafts. Well at least in my house, I’m always trying to craft like crazy during the holidays…Like I needed another thing to do!

Every once in a while I try to host a craft night for my girlfriends. We’ve done a fall/Halloween craft night, a few Christmas nights, and a Valentine’s Day craft night. This year I went with another Christmas craft. And actually thinking about it, this craft could be left out for the entire winter season.

Craft Night Prep

What goes into a craft night? I usually get a ton of ideas, some are amazing, and some turn into complete disasters. Real life Pinterest fails! But if I get a good one that doesn’t take an eternity to finish, and doesn’t call for a lot of supplies I’ll offer that one up for a craft night. Also the cost of the craft goes into play, I don’t think we’ve ever done a craft night over $20 per person.

First things first, I’ll make the craft. Second I’ll make sure I can get my hands on enough supplies to make more. I’ll send an invite out. Once I get my tentative head count I’ll buy all of the supplies. Everyone will come by, wine and snacks in hand and ready to craft! Since I buy all the craft supplies my lucky lady friends just need to reimburse me for the supplies. Pretty simple, and it seems to work out for all!

This Years DIY

Wreath ladders! I’m big on wreaths, and lately I’ve been big on ladders. I made a bunch of blanket ladders for my friends last month! But I saw these little wood ladders at hobby lobby and I grabbed one not knowing what I was using it for. It was just super cute, and pretty cheap(under $8)! Now if you want to make this and hobby lobby doesn’t have anymore you can easily do it with a furring strip and some wood glue for under $10.

These wreath forms are from the dollar tree! Yes you read that right, the dollar tree!! They’re about 9 inches round, and perfect size for these blanket/wreath ladders!

The stems and pine cones are from Michael’s, but any craft store should have similar stems. Amazon could even be an option. Gotta love amazon prime!

Ribbon will be another item needed, which you can find at any craft store, Target, Walmart, and again probably amazon. The last item needed will be the hot glue gun.

Assembling

What I love about our ladies DIY night is the fact that it’s totally laid back. I’m one of those super extra people, I don’t mean to be, but my ocd just makes me that way. So when I do craft nights, the girls bring snacks, we wear our classiest pajamas and we unwind. It’s fun to just laugh, and catch up. Because craft night usually comes with a lot of laughing!

In between the laughing, and the snacking, and the drinking we get to crafting. It’s really easy to assemble these wreaths, I think the hardest part to it all is waiting for the hot glue to dry.

Step one would be to pick your stems. once you have the stems you’re using on your wreath you will want to take them off of the actual pick. Which you can cut or just pull off depending on your stem. Then place them on the wreath and glue.

After they are glued we hot glued the pinecones in the center. This part calls for a lot of hot glue. And once they’re hot glued, they will have to be held on with a little pressure until they’re somewhat dry.

When you have all three wreath forms done its time to attach them to the ladder. For this just get an idea of where you want the wreath form to lay and measure out the ribbon. Slip the ribbon through the wreath form and the ladder, and simply hot glue the ends of the ribbon.

End Results

Well we finished our wine and our crafts were a big success! The reason I love hosting these craft parties so much, I LOVE seeing everyone’s end results. The creativity, that each one of these ladies provides, is truly inspirational. Good laughs, and cute crafts, you can’t go wrong!
