DIY Tea Flags for Cute Fourth Decor

I want to start out by wishing everyone a safe and fabulous Fourth of July! I love the fourth of July, you can’t beat fireworks, warm weather, barbecue, and relaxing with close family and friends. I wanted to share my last fourth decor for the season. It’s an easy DIY that costs about $5 dollars and is simple and easy. I love the look of vintage flags so I make my own, these DIY tea flags can be done in just a couple of steps and only takes a day to do.

I found this ceramic vase/jar in the Target Dollar Spot for about $3 dollars! And I also found these flags in the Target dollar spot, three flags for a dollar. I grabbed both of them not knowing what I was going to use either of them for. I saw some vintage flags like these on a some site and they were asking a fortune, so I decided to do it myself!

 Boil Water

First thing you’ll want to do is boil a pot of water, After the water boils throw some tea bags in the water. I used six tea bags which should be plenty for at least six small flags. I let the tea steep for about ten minutes.

Flags

Once the tea was ready I threw my flags into the tea. I want to point out that these are cloth flags and not plastic ones. I let them sit in the pot of tea overnight. I’m sure that you could do this for 4-6 hours and that would be enough time, but I wanted to make sure they were dark enough and had a real vintage look to them.

The next morning I took them out of the tea and let them sit to dry. They dried really fast, probably about an hour or two. I just laid them across a Tupperware container to dry and to let them dry flat.

Once they were dry I just stuck them in the ceramic vase and that’s all! I love the way they turned out and It’s such a cute little fourth of July decoration that took minimal effort and didn’t break the bank!
