Decorating for the Fourth

I wouldn’t like to say I’m super extra when it comes to decorating for holidays, but I’m definitely extra! I usually give myself the one month before rule, meaning I won’t decorate for a holiday until there is a month or less to the holiday. With Fourth of July right around the corner I’m having fun decorating for the 4th!

I’m really particular when it comes to decorating anything, especially for the Fourth. I think the stores sell some cute decorations for all holidays, but I like mine to be unique and one of a kind. I’m a HUGE flea market/antique shopper. I wish I had a little bit more time for the antique shops, but bringing toddlers into an antique store is probably one of the worst ideas for myself!

I usually hit up this antique/flea market I’ve been going to since I was a kid! The Kane County Flea Market, my childhood best friend’s mom would take us and give us what I thought was about $5 dollars, but who knows how much she handed us. We would always find the best treasures ( it was probably junk) but I think that’s where my knack for pickin’ originated from! I try to go every first weekend of the month, and it’s always a great time, if it’s me and my son (he’s a picker at heart) or the whole family, we all enjoy it and they usually got some good eats too!!

I went at the beginning of this month with the Fourth of July in mind, and I found a few good pickings! when it comes to decorating, I feel like it’s best to keep an open mind, if you have your mind-set on something and you don’t find it, you may miss out on something else that just as awesome!

My first find was this vintage looking pillow, I found it at a little pop up shop that had cute clothes and all other kind of other shabby chic items, and it was just a few dollars, less than $10. I found the red truck at Hobby Lobby for 50% off,  I think it was about $12 dollars.

The next item I found at the flea market was this cute little basket, another thing I love about the flea market, being able to bargain your prices! They asked $12 dollars for the basket, I paid $8! I threw some Hydrangea’s and a couple American flags from Hobby Lobby, both on sale!

Third find was my favorite, and it’s probably because I love these vintage beat up tool boxes, but I’ve never known what and how to decorate with them. I found this one for $4 dollars and I had to grab it for that price! When I got home, and started playing around with it, I knew it would be perfect for the Fourth! I grabbed these little galvanized baskets in the dollar section at target, and the succulents at the dollar tree. The Stars are also from the dollar spot at Target. I love how this little piece turned out!

Loving my vintage finds this month, and I can’t wait to check out what I find in July…
