The Snuggle is Real ❤️
I’m really excited for this Spring and Summer to arrive, not only for the warm weather, but because I have a slew of pregnant friends that are about to welcome their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th baby!! Now that I’m officially done having babies I get to enjoy everyone else’s around me, and happily give them back when I’m done!
There is always such a celebration when your first is born, you receive a ton of cute baby clothes, blankets, books, the list goes on and on! Everyone is so eager to come and meet your newest addition, but after the first the excitement seems to die down. Not that the next baby isn’t as great as the first, but because you’re a seasoned parent now. I don’t think it should matter how many babies you have, you and that precious newborn deserve to be celebrated, you two have been through a whole lot the past nine months! Not to mention Dads, and siblings definitely have been along for the ride as well.
Now maybe there isn’t a need for new baby blankets, or baby clothes, or baby bottles, but I think that there are other small gestures that could really help new moms and families adjust to another new baby in the house.
Gift Cards
Target, grocery store, favorite restaurant, are some to name a few. Maybe you won’t need to get a bunch of new baby stuff, but if you’re nursing a new nursing bra, breast milk storage bags, groceries, and a gift card for dinner, could really help a family with a new baby.
Healthy Food
I had a friend that had a baby recently, and someone brought her over a bunch of ready made salads. I thought that was a genius idea! I know once I got home from the hospital I wanted to desperately fit in my pre-pregnancy clothes, but to think about eating healthy and making a bunch of salads is low on the priority list when you’re caring for a newborn.
Bibs, Burp Clothes,Onesies
You can never have enough of the items listed above. Those items take a beating with a new baby. And its always good to have new fresh ones ready to go!
Fun Activities for Sibling
Keeping any other little ones entertained helps a ton! Maybe a new board game, a craft. offer to take the kid to a park or indoor play place. Not only does that help the parent it also makes the sibling feel special as they’re adjusting to this whole new baby thing!
Grocery Delivery
Peapod, Plated, Super market deliveries; you can order fruits, veggies, other snacks. There are also services like Plated that will deliver everything you need to prepare a meal. One less thing for a family adjusting to have to worry about.
Meals
This ties in with the one above, offer to cook a meal, that they can throw in the oven at a later time. It’s so nice to not have to worry about cooking right when you get home with a new baby.
Cleaning Service
You might want to talk with whomever your thinking about doing this for, before hand. But having a cleaning service come in one time to help with some of the household chores would be amazing! I know how I felt, coming home from the hospital and trying to not let my messy house bother me, especially knowing I was having guests over to meet my newest addition.
It’s nice to do something special when a new baby arrives, and sometimes its hard to figure out what a baby needs or a parent might need when they bring their newborn home with them.
And to you new parents…. Enjoy those baby snuggles!! <3
