Christmas Mantel Decor 2020
Finally, just about done decorating. Well I say that, but I find myself decorating up to Christmas…always! I do the same thing every year, say I’m done, but then I keep decorating!!
Although I’ll never be done decorating for Christmas, the mantel is officially done! This year’s might just be my favorite so far!
I wanted pretty, and classic, with a touch of nostalgia. I’m all about nostalgia this year. Sprinkling little touches around the home.
Focal point
When creating a mantel design, I first find the focal point. A focal point is what is first going to catch the eye. I usually use the same focal point throughout the seasons. This holiday season, a mirror
On Black Friday, I finally pulled the trigger and bought myself something I’ve wanted forever. The primrose mirror. I had planned to put the mirror somewhere else, but when this beauty came I opened her, and tried her up on the mantel. The second she was up there I fell in love!!
A focal could be anything from a large mirror, a vintage window, piece of art, even a Tv. Usually the biggest piece on your mantel.
Garland 2020 Style
I’m always using some type of garland for my Christmas mantel, and this year it was a bit of a struggle. It’s hard when you have this vision in your head, but you also don’t want to file for bankruptcy making it come to life.
When I started playing around, with what I had, and couldn’t make the dream in my head come to life, you better believe the disappointment and heartbreak I was feeling!
That’s when I remembered I picked this garland up for $11 on Black Friday. It was in my car to be returned! I decided to give it a spray paint face lift… So I took to the spray paint gods.. and they answered!!! I wrapped the ball garland around another garland I owned… and the rest was history!!
Sometimes letting go of the expectation we had, opens us up to some better opportunities… I feel like this applies in life and in home design😉
To The Left… And to the Right!
Focal point.. check… garland check… the other pieces on the mantel stay there throughout the season. The vase I change out the stems for each season to give it an updated look.
The candlesticks stay through the season as well, and leaving them black with white candles, means I don’t have to update them.
A Little Nostalgia
Stockings are hung
We’ve had the same stockings since becoming a family. I wanted something that would match throughout the years, but still be fun for the kids.
That’s why I chose traditional holiday colors and I love the cable knit style! I fun way to add a little flare to stockings is a fun letter or personalized name tag.
More Christmas Coming Soon!!
I’m pretty excited about how the mantel came out this year! And I can’t wait to share the rest of my Christmas decorations over the next couple days!
